Aloha folks and welcome to another edition of our Punatics Happening space as we float around from star to shooting star . . . and wonder what is going on with these asteroids? And how are we getting another moon? In these astronomical times, it can feel nebulous to comet to just one event (on the) horizon, so I will do my best to cover the map from one end of the sky to the other.
We have Improv classes happening every Monday all month long: November 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th at the Asherah Studio next to the ‘Awapuhi Labyrinth in Keaau, 15-1601 4th Ave, from 6pm-8pm for $20. Come get some comedic relief . . especially recommended for those indulging in too much seriousness these days, which is almost everybody. Another weekly event happening is called “Blue Moon Dreaming”, and it’s a sound healing journey that happens every Wednesday at Kalani Retreat Center, 12-6870 Kalapana-Kapoho Road. Join Captain Kirt and Crystal Laura of Creative Frequencies as they skillfully navigate the collective ship thru introspective and existential waters. Plan on setting some time aside November 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th from 5 pm-6 pm as this gathering is meant to foster a deeper relaxation as we get more active in our personal work week. Nanawale is continuing with its local market event—the All Kine Market at the Nanawale Longhouse and community center located at 14-855 Kehau Rd, Pahoa. Happening on November 8th from 9 am-2 pm. Let’s go check out what vendors they have this week. Keep it Local!

On Sunday, November 9th, from 3pm to 5pm, there is a workshop called “Empowering Community Voices” up at the Laulima Nature Center, 18-1325 Old Volcano Rd. It is a free event focused on how local laws protect Hawaii’s environment, how to write or support conservation bills, connecting with community partners, and seeing how civic action protects native plants and wildlife.

On Saturday, November 15th, Koa’s Lounge in Pahoa is having an irregular band come through – Freaky Tiki. No cover for these rockers, as they pump out covers from acts such as Billy Idol, the Stones, the Doors, Zeppelin, Tom Petty, the Cars, Blondie, and much more. Catch them while you can.

It’s a month of holiday markets for sure, as the Art & Sciences Center at HASS has its Artisan Holiday Market at 15-1397 Post Office Road in Pahoa. Starts at 10 am and goes until 2 pm. Check out more info at hiasc.org/market

At the end of the month, on November 30th from 11am-5pm, Taste of Puna brings its showcase of local vendors, art, food, and more to Kaleo’s Restaurant in Orchidland, 16-110 Orchidland Drive, Keaau. It’s the first time TOP has partnered up with Kaleo’s, and we hope there will be many more. Local musical act Wondergrass is bringing the bluegrass vibes with them to the event. We are getting excited about this new showcase of talent!

Here in Hawai'i, he has spent time as a teacher and permaculture facilitator at the Hawaiian Sanctuary.
Long-term volunteer of many issues of social justice, family and human rights, environmental rights, indigenous rights, food sovereignty, and community solidarity- here to continue the mission of bringing health & happiness to the world – starting with the Ohana gathered here.
