Spring Brings Fresh Starts, and Renewed Enthusiasm for Life
March opens with mixed weather patterns common for the pre-spring period. Mercury has just turned retrograde on February 25 in Pisces, suggesting things are still wet, wild, and hard to predict because Mercury is indecisive in the sign of its detriment. Making decisions and carrying them through means either we are very determined and keep going despite delays and confusion, or we sit on our hands and wait it out. Fortunately, Mercury’s retrograde period is only 22 days.
Mars, planet of action and willfulness, enters Pisces on March 2. This is slippery energy, which could mean that we don’t take things at surface value. Be cautious and thoughtful if you are faced with situations that seem a little dubious. Scams are everywhere these days. Safeguard personal information and anything that light fingers can take away in a flash.
The Lunar eclipse occurs at 1:37 am HST. On the Big Island, look for the “Blood Moon” Total eclipse to begin after midnight and finish at 2 am. Astrologically, the Moon is at 12 Virgo 53”. In the chart of the moment, the emphasis is on Mercury-ruled topics, such as commercial contracts and business agreements, zoning rules, and permits. Since Mercury is retrograde, these topics could be confusing, difficult to enforce, or slow to be made public.
On March 5, the Sun trines Jupiter, as it stations to turn direct on the 10th. In this phase of Jupiter’s relationship with the Sun, it is going to begin to show its ability to bring benefits and improve negotiations of important situations. Jupiter in direct motion will allow completion of some of the good things in life that you have been waiting for. Since Truth is one of its greatest gifts, we can expect that many issues that have been held back, delayed, suppressed, or ignored will come to the surface undeniably.
Mercury joins with the Sun in its Superior conjunction, its halfway point in its cycle. It will also trine Jupiter. This is a good aspect that is something to feel good about. That could be bringing old business to its positive conclusion, even though Mercury is retrograde. It will feel like getting something that has taken a long time to process.
Venus enters Aries and joins up with Neptune and Saturn over the weekend of March 7 & 8. These outer planets are establishing new themes on our own independence and autonomy. It makes us aware of our own power to choose and take the path that supports personal growth. It’s a time to stand tall for what you believe in. The wait-and-see period is ending. Now we will be empowered to act where we have been hesitating.
Aries keywords are “I AM” and “I will”. As we move into the Aries season with the Equinox on March 20, Mercury turns direct, and we can start to see the themes of a new era for humanity.
New Moon on March 18 is the last of 6 New Moons that have been at the ending degrees of the sign since September. This is a turning point where the theme of endings finally shifts to New Beginnings. With the Sun’s entrance to Aries, the Moon transits over Chiron, the Wounded Healer, signaling that we can heal our own woundedness, letting go of old issues of blame and shame. Mercury’s station direct on the same degree as the North Node opens the way for old situations to be put aside, and we can clear the air and meet our enemies as allies.
Spring Equinox, on March 20, is very different with Saturn and Neptune as a part of the picture. The Sun joins each of these outer planets during the week of the 22nd to 24th, then aspects Pluto, planet of power and extremes of control. On the global level, many situations might seem tenuous and uncertain, but one good aspect could solve many problems. Mars, the planet that rules Aries, is in Pisces, giving it a theme of caring, rather than harming. It makes the positive trine aspect with Jupiter, the ruler of Pisces, and can neutralize contention, equalize pressure, and harmonize the mutual goals of the two planets. Venus conjuncts Chiron on the 26th, making up for old hurts and bringing peaceful resolutions without harm.
The final days of March will show the way for improved relationships. The Sun and then Saturn make harmonious aspects with Pluto, which can turn down the heat on power struggles, stand-offs, and disagreements. Venus enters her own sign of Taurus on the 30th. The Moon enters Libra, Venus’s other sign, on the 31st. The planets form a diamond kite with the Moon at the tail end and most of the planets contained at the top. This suggests a symbolic rising above the troubles that usually plague daily life.
It can be an excellent time for recognizing the true value of living in peace and working through difficulties for the good of all concerned. For the month of April, there are many opportunities for positive changes and new beginnings.
