Powerful Eclipses and Collective Shifts
The Full Moon of July 29 was an incredibly significant lunation that has established a bonding among the outer planets that will have a beneficial resonance for humanity going forward in this century. We may not realize the dynamic level of development that has changed the world since the last time Jupiter in Leo opposed Pluto in Aquarius, which was in 1789, as our Country began to establish its foundations of government. Pluto’s cycle is 248 years, and Neptune’s cycle is 165 years.
Historical Context and Long-Term Cycles
The harmonic aspects among the slow-moving outer planets support growth and development through interwoven cycles that have historically improved life through inventions and creative thought. The longest cycle is between Pluto and Neptune, and they are currently in an opening sextile (60°) that has been actively influencing humanity since 1941 and will continue to 2035.
These planets have a long cycle of 492 years before coming together again. Their last conjunction that seeded this current cycle was in 1891-2, in the sign of Gemini, which gave us electricity, motors, communication of telegraph and telephone. These planets have to do with collective consciousness and the seeking of higher ideas and ideals, which bring forward spiritual, cosmic, and human purposes coming into manifestation.
Pluto and Uranus have a cycle of 127 years. Their last meeting was in 1965-7, initiating social revolution and human rights, and the computer age and movement toward Quantum Physics. In 1989-1990, Uranus and Neptune joined in Capricorn, which seeded their current 172-year cycle. They are now in their sextile phase and working along with Pluto/Neptune, bringing further developments in social, spiritual, and political belief systems.
Pluto is now forming a trine (120°) to Uranus in Gemini, contributing to the rapid development of AI technology and robotics, which will hopefully continue to support the improvement of humanity’s knowledge, sense of purpose, and evolving consciousness.
Jupiter is the fastest of the outer planets with only a twelve-year cycle. While Jupiter was the final piece of the cosmic framework of the “basket” formation, Jupiter is moving fast and going beyond the early degrees of Leo. Yet, the impression has been made. The themes of growth and change for the better will depend on the perspective and expectations of people in response to the current revelations that are changing daily with events that give the latest information, hopefully including more truth that improves our responses to important decisions we make collectively. We are our own rescue team.
Mercury’s entry into Leo on August 11 and its conjunction with Jupiter on August 15 highlight communications and truth. The subsequent trine to Saturn on August 17 brings opportunities for agreement. Venus, strong in Libra, sextiles Jupiter for much of August but must contend with Saturn’s authority over Libra. While Venus promotes peace and compromise, Saturn’s presence may temper these tendencies.
Total Solar Eclipse and Major Alignments
The Total Solar Eclipse occurs just after sunrise in Hawaii on August 12 at 20° Leo. Venus in Libra forms a grand trine with Pluto and Uranus in Air signs, while Mercury and Jupiter are conjunct in Leo. Mercury’s influence over both the Ascendant (Virgo) and Midheaven (Gemini) of this eclipse in our location may signal increased opportunities for tourism and emerging industries in the Islands. Mercury’s opposition to Pluto creates a Kite formation, symbolizing elevation and improvement, with Jupiter amplifying these effects.
Mercury aligns with Jupiter on August 15, then trines Saturn on August 16, releasing blockages and enabling agreements. Venus and Jupiter form a supportive aspect, favoring women and justice. The Moon in Sagittarius on August 20–21 could bring heightened emotions and celebrations, though distinguishing truth from propaganda is essential.
Jupiter, regaining visibility as the Morning Star on August 19, sextiles Venus, supporting peace talks and other forms of negotiations. Mercury will also become visible in the evening sky. These alignments suggest more sustainable outcomes for events. Venus opposes Saturn on August 21, and the Sun enters Virgo on August 22. Mercury follows into Virgo on August 25, bringing clarity as details emerge.
Lunar Eclipse and Changing Dynamics
The Lunar Eclipse on August 28 at 6:18 PM HST, at 4°54’ Pisces, marks the last of a series of four Pisces Lunar Eclipses. The following day, the Sun squares Uranus, bringing unexpected changes. Mars squares Saturn on August 31, echoing themes of resistance and stalled dialogue, particularly in international affairs. Mars in Gemini and Venus in Virgo both fall under Mercury’s influence, highlighting the role of negotiation and strategy. Saturn’s stationary position in Aries underscores limitations and blockages, while Mars represents military action.
On August 31, Jupiter in Leo trines Saturn in Aries, fostering growth and expansion. This period strengthens the influence of the recent Jupiter/Sun transit and the late July Full Moon conjunct Pluto. Jupiter/Sun transits are positive for peace talks and cease-fires.
As Mercury moves into Virgo, it gains strength and the capacity to manage its own affairs. A new Mercury cycle begins with its conjunction with the Sun on August 27, followed by the Lunar Eclipse.
The influence from Uranus’s square to the lunation during this period could bring sudden shifts, especially with Hawaii’s Primary election this month. Uranus suggests changes in the political landscape. Be sure to take advantage of your Right to Vote.
