Welcome to the New World of 2025
The year ahead is unique in the fact that all five of the slow planets are changing signs, which equates to a super dynamic shift in multiple arenas of life. The slowest body, Pluto is now fully into the sign Aquarius for the next generation. There is the finale’ of the Earth element emphasis of a two-hundred fifty-year period based on the Jupiter-Saturn cycles that is completed with this Winter Solstice and the last lunation of the year 2024 being a New Moon in Capricorn on December 30.
On January 1, just after midnight, Hawaii time, the Moon ingresses into Aquarius and meets with Pluto to initiate the New Year of 2025 with the flavor of seeking a new harmonic resonance for humanity. Aquarius is the theme of equality, fairness, and group consciousness while accepting individualism. As an Air sign, its temperament is Sanguine, informative in communication, and rational in thinking processes. This opens the way for innovative approaches to international and interpersonal relationships with greater collaboration.
The most difficult active aspect with the start of the year is Mars retrograde in opposition to Pluto. The first contact of this combination was on November 3 when Mars was still direct in motion and Pluto was still in Capricorn. There is the urge to challenge power structures that have overgrown. If we think of these planets as competitors, as in the Election, we can see the trend could be to uncover, expose the bloated government, and steer the country in a different direction.
The Election happened and many aspects of the Presidential transition began to take shape through November and December. The intensity period of the aspect holds strong in the first weeks of January including Inauguration Day, January 20.
Mars continues retrograde in Cancer until February 25, when it stations direct at 17 degrees, just over the midpoint of the USA Sun/Mercury. This combined point represents the greater conscious objective understanding of the world in relationship to the management of government business. The Mars station here can activate a practical approach or action plan of the new Administration to change some of the former policies that have created a deep level of government bureaucratic agencies. That is, the control structure of government agencies workings run by non-elected officials who maintain functions regardless of Administration.
The power-struggle energy represented by this slowly progressing aspect will not complete until the final Mars direct opposition to Pluto contact on April 27, 2025, these planets meet at 3 degrees Leo and Aquarius. Mars passed through 3 Leo mid-November when Biden gave Ukraine the okay to start sending missiles into Russian territory. Biden will not be Commander-in-Chief when the Russian forces retaliate.
Mars can be the surgeon when considering a chart relative to a medical question. Pluto in this analogy can be the Disease of Cancer with similarities in exaggerated growth of cells causing decay of good cells. If we think of this opposition as a diagnostic review of the patient, the new President and his Cabinet might be the team to expose the excessive growth of the power of corruption in the political system.
Pluto’s final ingress into Aquarius was November 19. Pluto can dredge up history, uncover the past, and expose criminal level misdeeds, and Aquarius is a sign that seeks honesty and Truth. The period covered by Mars opposition to Pluto will activate a battle to bring forward the Truth against the powerful who strive to suppress and dismiss damages done. There are certainly many stories of both domestic and global power struggles to still be told. Multiple nations face restructuring of the political and economic management of their governments going into the first half of 2025. This transit is global in its influence and transformative results.
2025 is going to be unique with all the planets changing signs and the three inner planets all having retrogrades across two signs. The most focused part of the Zodiac is between the end of Pisces and the beginning of Aries, giving us another way of seeing major endings and surprising beginnings. The first degree of Aries is called the World Point, representing the idea of collective Global influence. It is the Sun’s entrance to the Spring Equinox, which will be March 21. Each of the planets that ingress to Aries will conjoin the Sun in the process.
The Sun enters Aquarius on January 19. On Inauguration Day, the 20th, the Sun is conjoined to Pluto, a strong symbol of a “striving for power, the craving of rulership, the power of attainment.”-Ebertin, COSI. President Trump is already showing his power of influence on the world stage. Pluto can bring dramatic transformation similar to the way a major lava flow changes the landscape.
Venus enters Aries on February 3, and Jupiter stations direct on the same day. Mars stations direct on February 23. Retrograde periods are a review of the recent past. The added information and suggested reforms that come with the forward motion of Jupiter and Mars could begin to fuel social unrest in response to the public learning more truth about the last four years, and stirred by new government proposals for revisions and plans for new directions.
Things could get more stirred up in dissension through February. Venus stations retrograde at 11 Aries on March 2, and Mercury enters Aries on March 4. Venus is the planet of money, currencies, prices, values, and general happiness with the quality of life. Mercury rules commerce, trade agreements, tariffs, contention, disagreements, and changing the rules. Before we get into tax season, there could be a great deal of confusion over Social Security changes.
Mercury retrogrades on March 15 at 9 Aries. It then crosses back into Pisces the same day that Neptune ingresses into Aries on March 29, hours after the Partial Solar Eclipse on the same degree as Mercury’s retrograde station, 9 Aries. Neptune’s period is 165 years. The last time it was in Aries was 1861 to 1875. You might remember your history. The last time initiated was the Civil War Era. This is an important shift to give attention to. Neptune will retrograde back through Aries to 29 Pisces on October 23, 2025, entering Aries again on January 27, 2026.
Expect March to be a particularly challenging period with a New Administration following up on the many changes they have proposed. Confusion might be putting it mildly, it could feel more like a dreamscape with Mercury and Neptune staying close together as Mercury turns direct on April 7 at 27 Pisces, joining Venus and Saturn at 25 Pisces. Venus stations direct on April 13. Mercury re-enters Aries and again conjuncts Neptune on April 17. There is a sense of communal loss or sacrifice with this huddle of inner planets with generational planets over the last degree of the zodiac where the fixed star Sheat, also known as the “Shipwreck star,” sits.
This might be the beginning of reports and revelations about levels of coverup and deception that have gone on in the bureaucracy of the last several administrations. We the people might get new insight into why Americans are sick and poor. We might learn about the Intelligence that is used against us and why America has such a large budget for funding war and disease.
Mars is completing its shadow phase and re-enters Leo on April 19. It will make the third opposition to Pluto on April 27. Days later, on May 1, Venus re-enters Aries and is in conjunction to Neptune, sextile Pluto, and trine to Mars. Venus and Mars bring varied factors to their summations and share in directing plans and strategies that the outer planets will be initiating by their joining of influences at this time in history. They symbolize a New Vision for society.
One more planet, Saturn is at its greatest speed now will ingress to Aries on May 26. There is still a small gap between Saturn and Neptune, but we can still call them conjunct. They have a 36-year period between their meetings. Their last conjunction included Uranus in Capricorn in 1989. Uranus and Neptune only meet every 172 years, making this generation incredibly unique and special as they will learn through this next year.
The finale’ of the planets into Aries, and Mars moving into fresh territory past Pluto is likely to be a kind of release of tension and a renewed sense of the future. On June 10, Jupiter will ingress into Cancer, the sign of its Exaltation, giving it the power of dignity and influence, like that of the CEO of a company. It has the influence but not the management of daily business. This is a transit that promises growth and possible improvement of circumstances for families and infrastructures to improve urban communities.
Uranus is the last planet to make the sign change and it enters Gemini on July 7. Uranus is in Mercury’s sign of communication, and information, and it goes nicely with Pluto in Aquarius to take technology to higher and higher levels. Uranus and Pluto have been loosely in a Trine aspect for much of the past year. Now the aspect has more potency and will speed the development of connectivity and transportation options over the next 7 years of Uranus’ transit in Gemini.
Neptune stations retrograde on July 4, and Saturn stations retrograde on July 13. This puts a limit on the progress of societal changes and hopefully, improvements promised. These planets will impress their new themes on society gradually by changing beliefs. Their exact conjunction will be on February 20, 2026.
At this point of mid-summer, 2025, the slow planets are now in masculine signs, which are the Fire and Air signs. These are the energies of creativity and action. But they are also dominant and commanding. Two planets are returning to their places in the United States chart. They are Jupiter in Cancer and Uranus in Gemini. They embody qualities that framed our Declaration of Independence and later, the Constitution. Uranus is revolutionary in its orientation to general human rights and equality. Jupiter in Cancer holds family and community as sacred and to be protected.
I will go more in-depth month by month. This offers you the broad brush strokes of the astrological changes we are entering. The themes of strong urges for change and realignment seem to go along with the peak energies of the Sun’s emissions and the extra energy coming into Earth’s atmosphere that has been happening in the last few months of 2024.
Consider the turning point of Aries, the beginning of the zodiac, to be a renewal for you personally, no matter what your astrology. New beginnings, fresh bursting forth energy, and you are the star of your own story. May we all have a bright and hopeful 2025. Happy New Year!
