Enjoy the Extended Summer Theme of Family and Community
The end of May had a few bumps in the road. Honestly, with Mars so amped up after all the Aries partying, it was hard to hear the quiet after all the artillery and explosives. Mercury rushing through its own territory in Gemini, from May 18 to May 30, raised new questions about the divided proposals and unclear ideas circulating. Negotiations are reasoned and changed.
Uranus also entered the Gemini conversation a month ago, bringing innovative ideas and a surge of enthusiasm for finding solutions to universally shared problems. Uranus has an 84-year cycle and is returning to its position in the United States horoscope. It will be in Gemini for seven years. It always brings major changes to thinking, travel, and social interactions. This is just the beginning of a new way of looking at life.
After the New Moon on May 16, in late Taurus, the faster planets are shifting speeds and changing signs. It’s a good thing to have the energy slow down some after the intense rush of April and May and the Aries thrust of so many planetary themes on the same agenda.
Mars, the ruler of Aries, is smoldering a bit, being restrained in Taurus for June. The energy feels depleted with the cooling qualities of earth. Action is slow and deliberate. Like seeds germinating beneath the soil, Mars in Taurus is making progress that is not yet obvious. You can be sure that the process is preparation and future vision. To ‘Be Prepared’ is the motto of Taurus, taking care of business.
On May 25/26 Mars came into a square aspect to Pluto, and more explosions occurred in a show of power and deliberate threat, while Mercury is still in Gemini, making negotiations for peace? That displays the duplicity and duality of Gemini.

Emerging as the Evening Star in Cancer, where it will spend an unusually long time. Mercury will enter Cancer on June 2. With Venus and Jupiter already residing there, Mercury will need to change its ways and become more sensitive. The Full Moon on May 30 is in Sagittarius, ruled by Jupiter in Cancer. It’s an enjoyable way to start the month as summer approaches. Life demands to be more family-oriented.
I want to point out that Mercury serves the quality of communication and social life. We get an extra boost of its travel in the sign Cancer, which encourages caring, nurturing, and supporting family and community growth and happiness. Mercury will get to 26 Cancer on June 29 and station retrograde. It will retrace its path back through the sign until July 23, where it stations direct at 16 Cancer. It will complete the sign and enter Leo on August 10. That will be 71 days in Cancer.
Venus in Cancer is the image of mothering and the “tea and sympathy” auntie persona. The benefics, Venus and Jupiter, will meet on the 10th and 11th of June. Jupiter, planet of Truth, Justice, and all themes of growth and expansion, has been in Cancer for the past year. On July 1, Jupiter will complete its transit of this sign, where it has extra influence. Venus and Jupiter combine their energy before moving on to Leo. Venus enters Leo on June 14th and quickly, on to Virgo on July 9. These stars are on their bright night travels, appearing after sunset. Remember to catch their appearance together. It is brilliant.

June 14th is the New Moon at 24 Gemini. Mercury is in an aspect to Mars that supports cooperation and agreement on situations that promote security and substantial benefits. Jupiter is in a challenging aspect to Chiron, representing healing, and Eris represents a drive for justice and fairness. These represent Women’s Rights and Family Rights.
Venus enters Leo and is soon in opposition to Pluto. Venus is the planet of attraction and values, including currency and things we hold dear. The encounter between these two planets could indicate a significant shift in global values. Venus is in the sign associated with Gold, ruled by the Sun. Venus represents women. Pluto represents power, extremes, control, and Plutocracy over the masses. While this transit is brief, the follow-up with Jupiter on July 20, making the same aspect, brings in the courts, ideals of justice, and hidden truths, which will set up a much bigger display, carrying the investigations and hearings into the spring of 2027.

Summer Solstice on June 20, Sun sextile to Chiron, which is entering Taurus. This sets the theme of health and healing, then shifts to the topic of food and stable resources. Take notice of this Seasonal change while the world prepares to face food shortages and famine in some places.
The final 10 days of June enjoy the waxing Moon phase passing from Virgo to Sagittarius for the last weekend, giving lots of social juice to bring people out and circulating in summer style. Venus in Leo means styles that are bold and sparkly are in. Jupiter glams it up on June 29, taking us into the next full year. That tells us to be ready for things to be outrageous and unique in style and actions.
Is it time to really reinvent yourself? Mercury stations retrograde just before it leaves Cancer. It retreats back through half the sign again, pivots, and goes forward one more time. That might have a lot of folks thinking of what they can’t let go of, the security of the old and familiar…….
It could be a period of life when we each are reevaluating what holds us in place. For better or worse, we continue. That is the root of Cancer. This month of June is different from the average year. Since September 2025, we have been letting go, shedding parts of ourselves and the things we own or crave that don’t really have the same value as we used to think. Mercury in Cancer for 71 days gives a platform for review and examination of a. personal needs, b —family responsibility and desires, c. the belonging of the community.
The beautiful opportunity for this Cancer season is with Mercury, Venus, and Jupiter together. It makes this Summer Solstice one to celebrate and to socialize. Build a community of mutual support.
