2022 2nd Meeting of Organizations to Uplift Puna

From our first meeting on June 9th, there was a strong consensus on the following:

We, as leaders in our community organizations, should work together by mutually advocating for the benefit of Puna, including the next round of grant applications and help each other without detracting from the primary purpose of each organization.
We need to gather more support from the Legislature to support common issues within the community.
Food sovereignty in our community was a strong interest.
We need to spend more time at the beginning of the meeting getting to know each other's organization.
Each group is committed to inviting more organizations to our next meeting.

We also proposed a strategy for our 2nd meeting:

Each organization will propose three key objectives that they want to collaborate on with other groups. These objectives will be shared prior to the 2nd meeting. (An organization does not have to be present at the 2nd meeting to submit their three key objectives.)
At this 2nd meeting, we will work toward integrating and refining these objectives and develop a list of 3-5 projects that are in alignment with the strategies of the Resiliency Capacity Areas. (See attachment)

We are scheduled to meet on Thursday, June 23rd at 2 pm at the Pahoa Community Center.

Please submit your organization’s THREE top objectives at least one day before the meeting. Remember only one group of submissions per organization. Use this Google Form to submit information. Please complete before Wednesday, June 22nd, 2pm.

Hope to see all of you on the 23rd. And, remember, even if you cannot attend, please submit your preferences for three objectives/projects on which you would like to see collaboration.

One last point: our hui needs a name, as there are new organizations that were not part of the Puna Strong Cohort. Any suggestions?

Mahalo,

Robert Golden
