Grassroots Church Pāhoa

At Grassroots Church we seek to structure our community not by the fears and agendas of our culture but by the revelation of God in the Scriptures. We believe that church leadership is a high calling and that not many should become teachers because they will be held to a higher standard by God (James 3:1). We believe that Jesus has given two offices for leadership in the local church: elders who lead through teaching and shepherding and deacons who lead through service and support.

The qualifications for these offices are explained in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 and can be summarized as being sound in doctrine and above reproach in character. We believe that the office of elder is open to qualified and called men and that the office of deacon is open to both men and women who are likewise qualified and called.

The church will continue construction on its 14-acre parcel of land that is currently being cleared with funding from the County of Hawai‘i Kīlauea Recovery Grants to focus on growing fresh produce, raising livestock, and establishing orchids to provide jobs and teach work and life skills as well as be a hub for houseless families during a disaster.
